El año 2022 será el Año Internacional del Vidrio y el 25º aniversario de la fundación del Museo de Arte en Vidrio de Alcorcón. Uniendo ambos acontecimientos se crea este Congreso Iberoamericano «Mujeres en el Vidrio: Artistas y Científicas» en torno a las mujeres en el vidrio, artistas y científicas. Se celebrará del 22 al 24 de junio de 2022. Su objetivo es establecer puentes entre mujeres profesionales que trabajan en vidrio, escuchar experiencias en las que el ingenio suple las carencias de suministros, dar herramientas para mejorar el trabajo y facilitar la conjunción entre ambos mundos (arte y ciencia) que, a veces, parecen alejados pero que no lo son tanto.

Nuestra compañera Teresa Palomar Sanz, Investigadora del Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (CSIC) forma parte del Comité organizador y del Comité Científico de este congreso, junto a ella forman el Comité de Organziación, Mª Luisa Martínez García, Directora del Museo de Arte en Vidrio de Alcorcón y Mª Eugenia Díaz de Vivar, gestora cultural, Directora de Objetos con Vidrio.

HS Academy webinar: Archaeology and IPERION HS

An overview of what IPERION HS can offer to the archaeology community.

The webinar takes place online and will introduce participants to the facilities for archaeology in IPERION HS, a European project devoted to building a distributed research infrastructure in the field of Heritage Science: E-RIHS (http://www.e-rihs.eu/).

The webinar will introduce the archaeologists to IPERION-HS and the distributed heritage science infrastructure they can access to answer a wide range of research questions. It will include short presentations by different providers representing the different service platforms of IPERION-HS: FIXLAB, ARCHLAB and MOLAB.

  • Speakers:

Gill Campbell, UK – She leads a team of heritage scientists based at Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth, UK. Her research focuses on the utilization of plant resources in the past, the nature of biocultural heritage and the development and improvement of archaeological science practice.  She is chair of the Association for Environmental Archaeology (AEA).

Oliver Craig, UK – He is a Professor of Archaeological Science at the University of York. He specialises in biomolecular archaeology, i.e. the recovery of proteins, lipids and DNA from ancient skeletal remains and archaeological artefacts to provide insights into past human activities. His particular interests lie in temporal transitions and variability in human diets, cuisine and subsistence practices and the impact that dietary changes had on social evolution, health and the environment.

Canan Çakırlar, NL – She is an Assistant professor of zooarchaeology and the director of the zooarchaeology laboratory at the Groningen University Institute of Archaeology (Netherlands). Her research interests include the dispersal and development of husbandry technologies during neolithisations, coastal adaptations and management of aquatic resources, climatic fluctuations and societal change, provisioning of state-level societies, and human impact on Holocene zoogeography.

Giovanni Leucci, IT – After the Degree in Physics, he has achieved the title of PhD in Environmental Geophysics. Currently. He is a Research Director at the Institute of Heritage Sciences (ISPC-CNR). Leucci’s research interests include geophysics applied to archaeology, geology, engineering, environment and non-invasive diagnostics of monumental heritage.

Laurentiu Angheluta, RO – He is a Senior Researcher at NIRD for Optoelectronics INOE 2000 with a focus on close-range and aerial photogrammetry, 3D laser scanning, and X-Ray imaging as documentation and digitization methods for Cultural Heritage assets. Other complementary skills that contribute to these activities are photography, programming, web design, and database development.

LA PRIMERA JORNADA DEL CONCURSO “LIGA EL MUSEO EN CLASE” SE HA DESARROLLADO CON ÉXITO EN EL COLEGIO LAGOMAR

Este 22 de noviembre ha comenzado la otra liga, La Liga El Museo en Clase:

El pasado día 19 de noviembre se ha desarrollado con éxito la primera jornada del concurso LIGA EL MUSEO EN CLASE en el Colegio Lagomar de Valdemoro (Madrid), Entidad Asociada a PTI-PAIS.

Este concurso ha sido promovido por la Comisión TESEO de docentes y estudiantes y ha animado a competir a todos los estudiantes de 3º y 4º curso de ESO del COLEGIO LAGOMAR. La entusiasta organización de los profesores Víctor Monzón y Darío Sánchez, docentes de este centro educativo, ha posibilitado el perfecto desarrollo de la primera jornada de la liga mediante la plataforma Socrative en la que se han conjugado preguntas, imágenes y conceptos sobre el patrimonio del MUSEO NACIONAL DEL PRADO, el museo vinculado a esta primera jornada de la liga.

En la Cronica de la Jornada 1 de la Liga Museo en Clase se ofrecen detalles del desarrollo de esta primera jornada que, asimismo, se espera sea exitosa en su ejecución en el IES LAS LAGUNAS de Rivas-Vaciamadrid donde se efectuará el próximo día 30 de noviembre.

Paula Carmona (IQFR-PTI-PAIS) will be giving the lecture about IPERION HS, E-RIHS and PTI-PAIS, with the name «Integrating Platforms for the European Research Infrastructure ON Heritage Science (IPERION HS)»

The 9th ECTP Conference is organized by MWCC and PTEC on Thursday & Friday 2-3 December 2021 as a hybrid event, both with attendees onsite at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid and with an online broadcast.

Stakeholders from the whole construction value-chain and representatives of the European Commission will share their experience and outline how the EU Construction Industry is at the heart of the Built Environment green and digital transitions.

The Euro-Mediterranean Symposium on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy will be held in Gijón (Spain) from November 29th to December 2nd.

We will be present there with the poster: «Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy and Nonlinear Optical Microscopy for Analysis of Historical Glasses.» Lecture given by Marina Martínez Weinbaum (IQFR-PTI-PAIS) which was awarded with the Flash Talk Award.

«This event is a four-day conference and includes plenary talks, delivered by internationally recognized speakers, and oral sessions, where invited and selected contributors present their most relevant results. Participants will be able to visit the permanent poster exhibition and to meet the respective authors in the poster defence session. Moreover, 11th EMSLIBS will provide an excellent opportunity for suppliers of analytical instrumentation, relevant sample preparation equipment, consumables and chemicals, for LIBS and other related spectroscopy techniques, to exhibit at the conference. Additional entertainment will also be assured with various social activities organized throughout the conference.»

SUSTAINABLE BUILDING LIME APPLICATIONS VIA CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND BIOMIMETIC APPROACHES

The SUBLime Network (SUstainable Building Lime applications via Circular Economy and Biomimetic Approaches) focus on developing sustainable innovation solutions for lime mortars/plasters in new construction and conservation of the built heritage.

The project covers the main features of lime-based applications in the masonry construction its innovations are focused in both added functionalities and sustainability aspects, strongly based on novel biomimetic and closed-loop recycling approaches.

Within the scope of this Research Network, this Research Training Course (RTC) will take place in Granada, Spain, from 22nd to 26th of November.

CARC-CYL. Caracterización de Bienes del Patrimonio Cultural de Castilla y León

Proyecto CARC-CyL

Os presentamos un proyecto de Ciencia del Patrimonio del Centro de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales de Castilla y León. CARC-CyL. El objetivo es lograr la correcta conservación del patrimonio cultural a través del estudio, análisis y caracterización como elemento básico en la toma de decisiones.

El objetivo final es minimizar la intervención en las bienes culturales mueble y lograr su conservación preventiva mediante la sistematización de datos analíticos para su conservación. Esto incluirá la captura de imágenes multiespectrales, iluminación, posicionamiento espacial, toma de muestras “in situ” y medición y monitorización de condiciones ambientales.

Jornada de Lanzamiento: Consulta Preliminar al Mercado.

En el marco de este proyecto se está preparando una Jornada de Lanzamiento de la Consulta Preliminar al Mercado para el Reto CARC-CYL el próximo día 19 de noviembre 2021 dentro del siguiente calendario de operaciones.

Identificación de propuestas innovadoras que den respuesta a la necesidad de sistematización de datos analíticos para la conservación de los bienes del patrimonio cultural de Castilla y León.

(LLHS) Transnational Access Provision to Research Infraestructures IPERION HS.

Transnational Access Provision by the Laser Laboratory for Heritage Science (LLHS). 25 – 29 Oct 2021.

From October 25 to October 29, we received Carla Machado, NOVA School of Science and Technology from the Conservation and Restoration Department and Vicarte Research Unit (Portugal), to provide her access to the facilities, laboratories and research expertise at the Institute of Physical Chemistry Rocasolano in Madrid. This was done via FIXLAB access to research infrastructures in the mainframe of the European Project IPERION HS.

In the framework of the study «Non-invasive characterisation of grisaille paints on stained-glass windows» there were analysed stained glass fragments and samples from different European contexts and centuries with LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy), LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) and Nonlinear Optical Microscopy (NLOM) in the modality of Multiphoton Excitation Fluorescence.

Some of the beautiful samples she brought to the laboratory.

These techniques and the scientific expertise provided by the Laser Laboratory of Heritage Science research group will allow to get information regarding the chemical composition and thickness of the grisaille paint layers in a non-destructive way, without sampling.

This access provision has been successfully provided thanks to IPERION HS. You can apply too free of charge. Next call is already open and you can apply until November 30th.

The catalogue includes access to several techniques and laboratories all over Europe in the field of Heritage Science through FIXLAB. Also there is access to mobile equipment and related competencies in MOLAB. Also access to organized scientific information in largely unpublished datasets from archives of prestigious European museums, galleries and research institutions is provided through ARCHLAB.

Conociendo la materia y jugando a construir.

En este talleres se desarrollarán diversas actividades para acercar a los jóvenes al mundo de la química y de los materiales de construcción. Las actividades programadas contemplan:
1) Conociendo la Tabla Periódica. Mostraremos como los elementos químicos están presentes en
nuestro día a día y nos divertiremos fabricando nuestros propios modelos moleculares
2) ¿Cómo construyo? Los alumnos conocerán los fundamentos de los cementos y hormigones y prepararán sus propias maquetas.
3) ¿Cómo protegemos nuestro Patrimonio? Los edificios donde vivimos y trabajamos están hechos de múltiples materiales de
construcción, materiales que hay que proteger de las inclemencias del tiempo, contaminantes, vandalismo, etc. En este taller
veremos que nuevos productos se aplican para protegerlos y hablaremos del proyecto Europeo Innovaconcrete para la protección
del Patrimonio Cultural en Hormigón.

Además, contarás con la ayuda de distintas cartas de juego, que te permitirán, por ejemplo, usar antimicrobianos o virus bacteriófagos contra las bacterias rivales. ¡Porque nadie dijo que la vida unicelular fuera fácil!

Dirigida a estudiantes de Educación Secundaria, Bachillerato y Ciclos Formativos.Investigadores del Instituto de Investigación de la Cueva de Nerja se desplazarán a tu centro educativo y te mostrarán cómo es el trabajo científico que necesita una cueva turística para su conservación. Bacterias, sensores, perlas de las cavernas y nuestra “caja misteriosa” serán algunos de los protagonistas de nuestro taller, cargado de retos que tendrás que superar.10 de noviembre de 2021.

Nerja, una cueva a la LUZ DE LA CIENCIA.

12 de noviembre.

Jornada de puertas abiertas para conocer la parte más desconocida de la Cueva de Nerja y sus instalaciones científicas (estación meteorológica, biblioteca y laboratorio), habitualmente cerradas al público. En la cueva, los investigadores darán a conocer al gran público diversos aspectos que habitualmente pasan desapercibidos, como los numerosos tipos de formaciones geológicas, las especies faunísticas que la habitan y sus asombrosas adaptaciones, el importante yacimiento arqueológico y las pinturas rupestres que se dibujan en sus paredes.
