Visita a la excavación del proyecto de prospección de la necrópolis tardoantigua de Caraca

El martes 16 de agosto comenzaron las excavaciones arqueológicas en la ciudad romana de Caraca (Driebes, Guadalajara). Esta constituye la sexta campaña consecutiva de excavaciones arqueológicas en este yacimiento. Este año los trabajos de excavación se centran en un área al norte del Cerro de la Virgen de la Muela, en la que se quiere documentar posibles restos de infraestructuras hidráulicas de época romana cuyas características, cronología y estado de conservación se quieren conocer a través de estas nuevas investigaciones. Se excavará asimismo en la necrópolis de época tardoantigua, cercana a la ciudad romana, con el objeto de conocer más datos acerca del final de la ciudad y el poblamiento posterior a su desaparición en esta área. Dentro de este proyecto está la realización de una prospección con georradar en áreas del entorno del yacimiento con el objeto de delimitar su extensión.

Esta campaña cobra especial relevancia tras la solicitud realizada por parte del Ayuntamiento de Driebes a la Junta de Castilla-La Mancha de la declaración de la ciudad romana de Caraca como Bien de Interés Cultural.

Esta excavación se desarrollará gracias al convenio firmado entre la Diputación de Guadalajara y el Ayuntamiento de Driebes, con el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de Brea de Tajo y la Asociación de Amigos del Museo de Guadalajara.

 

El “Proyecto de excavación y prospección de la necrópolis tardoantigua de Caraca y documentación de espacios asociados al área arqueológica del Cerro Virgen de la Muela (Guadalajara, Driebes)” está dirigido por Javier Fernández Ortea (arqueólogo) y Emilio Gamo Pazos (Museo Arqueológico Nacional), Saúl Martín González (arqueólogo), Santiago David Domínguez Solera (Heroica arqueología) y Javier Vallés Iriso (CAI de Arqueometría y Análisis Arqueológico de la UCM.). El equipo interdisciplinar de investigación cuenta este año con la colaboración de un amplio número de expertos, algunos de ellos miembros de la Plataforma Patrimonio Abierto: Investigación y Sociedad, que analizarán el yacimiento desde distintas ópticas, incluyendo a Antonio Alvar Ezquerra (Universidad de Alcalá), Rafael Sabio González (Museo Nacional de Arqueología Subacuática-ARQVA), Ana Gracia Rivas (Museo Nacional de Antropología), José María Murciano Calles (Museo Nacional de Arte Romano), María Luisa Cerdeño Serrano, David Álvarez Jiménez, Gonzalo García Vegas, Celia Cantero Escribano (Museo Nacional de Arqueología Subacuática-ARQVA), María Ángeles Perucha Atienza (IGME.-CSIC), Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Pascua (IGME-CSIC), Alicia Castillo Mena (UCM.), José Francisco Mediato Arribas (IGME-CSIC), Andrés Díez Herrero (IGME-CSIC), Helena Gimeno Pascual (Centro CIL II-Alcalá de Henares), Daniel Méndez García (Revives.es), Ana Fernández Jiménez (Instituto Ciencias de la Construccion Eduardo Torroja perteneciente al Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas -IETcc-CSIC), Magdalena Barril Vicente, Paula Carmona Quiroga (Instituto de Química Física Rocasolano dependiente del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas-IQFR-CSIC), Macarena Bustamante Álvarez (Universidad de Granada), Sergio Remedios Sánchez (UNED-Senior), Javier Martínez Jiménez (Universidad de Granada), Elena Sánchez López (Universidad de Granada).

Este verano se volvió a realizar la Jornada de puertas abiertas en el yacimiento el jueves 25 de agosto que constó de visitas guiadas al mismo a las 11 y 19 h, siendo el acceso a la actividad libre y gratuito.

Las expectativas del Equipo arqueológico Caraca hacia esta nueva campaña de excavaciones son buenas y se espera poder aportar datos novedosos al conocimiento de la romanización de la provincia de Guadalajara y en general de Hispania, así como de otros períodos históricos de gran interés.

IPERION HS and E-RIHS are organizing a series of webinars, a key source of state-of-the-art information on heritage science research, facilities, policy and impact. It contributes to developing a vibrant heritage science community and is intended for anyone involved in interdisciplinary heritage research.

This 13th September, 2022, at 15:00, Johanna Leissner will present the challenges of climate change and cultural heritage.​ Johanna Leissner will present the results of the European OMC (Open Method for Coordination) expert group on climate change and cultural heritage, focussing on the role of research as a necessary driver for implementation.

The key topics covered during the 45 minutes exposition will be the European strategies to face climate change in the field of cultural heritage,

  • Climate change and cultural heritage: the EU strategy
  • The work carried out by the European OMC expert group on climate change and cultural heritage

You would have a chance to make questions at the end of the presentation.

Johanna Leisner is a chemist, working for over 20 years in cultural heritage research with a focus on environmental pollution and climate change impacts on heritage. She is currently the coordinator of the German KERES project on the impacts of extreme climate events on built heritage and historic gardens and landscapes. She is the Chair of the EU OMC (Open Method for Coordination) expert group on Climate change and cultural heritage.

24 de junio – Nueva Editatón de artículos de Wikipedia del Paisaje de la Luz

Este viernes 24 de junio volveremos a participar en las maratones de edición de la Wikipedia en el marco del patrimonio del Paisaje de la Luz.

El objetivo es visibilizar en la página de consultas más utilizada los elementos vinculados al patrimonio del «Paseo del Prado y el Buen Retiro, Paisaje de las Artes y las Ciencias» que forma parte de la lista de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO.

Los resultados de las ediciones pasadas de las Editatones organizadas por Patricia Horillo (Wikisfera) han animado a seguir con esta iniciativa:

● PUBLICACIÓN: 118 artículos nuevos [66 creación + 52 traducción]
● SUBIDAS A COMMONS: 90 imágenes [para artículos nuevos y existentes]
● PARTICIPACIÓN: 38 personas [18 wikipedistas de Wikiesfera + 20 nuevos]
● IMPACTO: 3.800.000 visitas a artículos creados [4.900 visitas al día]

Jornada «PTI-PAIS, Trayectoria con Entidades Asociadas»

El pasado 9 de junio se ha celebrado la Jornada «PTI-PAIS, Trayectoria con Entidades Asociadas» de la Plataforma Temática Interdisciplinar Patrimonio Abierto: Investigación y Sociedad en el Salón de Actos del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Madrid).

La Jornada, que contó con la participación de más de 80 asistentes, incluyó presentaciones que ilustraron las numerosas colaboraciones entre las Entidades Asociadas y los Grupos de Investigación de la Plataforma en las áreas de investigación, formación, difusión y transferencia del conocimiento en Patrimonio Cultural y Ciencia del Patrimonio.

La organización de la jornada ha tenido aparejada la entrevista realizada por CSIC a la Coordinadora de la Plataforma e investigadora del Instituto de Química Física Rocasolano (IQFR) Marta Castillejo. Podéis ver la entrevista aquí.

Tras la bienvenida, apertura y presentación del acto por la Coordinadora, la Vicepresidenta Adjunta de Áreas Científico-Técnicas, M.ª Victoria Moreno, inauguró la Jornada. A continuación el Director del IQFR, Juan Antonio Hermoso, pronunció unas palabras de bienvenida.

Contamos también en esta Jornada con la activa participación de Elena Castro e Ignacio Montero, coordinadores del Área de Sociedad de CSIC, de Marina Villegas, Delegada Institucional del CSIC en la Comunidad de Madrid y de Xosé-Lois Armada, coordinador de la Red de Arqueológía Archaeology-Hub.

Tuvieron lugar 15 ponencias en los Ejes de Investigación, Formación, Transferencia, Difusión, e Internacionalización y Proyección Futura, que incluyeron un espacio de discusión de gran provecho.

Enhorabuena a todos los asistentes, ponentes, moderadores y organizadores por una estupenda jornada que seguro impulsará el resto de actividades de PTI-PAIS.

The speaker, Karla Balzweit (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais), will present a talk on FAIR data and the challenges of interoperability.
F.A.I.R. data: Findable – Accessible – Interoperable – Reusable, will be shortly introduced and the importance of working towards FAIR data will be discussed, especially in Heritage Science. Heritage Science is an extremely broad and interdisciplinary field which involves both people with very different backgrounds as well as the most diverse techniques in every part of the planet with the goal of studying, understanding and preserving material and immaterial natural and cultural heritage. The challenges of making data interoperable using different characterization techniques on material samples such as works of art, geological and archaeological samples will be discussed

La III Jornada de la Plataforma Temática Interdisciplinar Patrimonio Abierto: Investigación y Sociedad (PTI-PAIS) del CSIC se centrará en las actividades de colaboración entre las Entidades Asociadas (empresas de restauración y gestión del patrimonio, museos, instituciones públicas, universidades, centros educativos, asociaciones profesionales, etc.) y los Grupos de Investigación, en las áreas de investigación, formación, difusión y transferencia del conocimiento en Patrimonio Cultural y Ciencia del Patrimonio.

La jornada se celebrará en el salón de actos del edificio central del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), en la Calle Serrano 117, 28006, Madrid.

La jornada se realizará de 10 de la mañana a 5 y media de la tarde, interrumpiendo para la comida provista en el recibidor del mismo edificio.

Deseamos que sea una jornada provechosa para profundizar en las actividades desarrolladas dentro de la Plataforma junto a entidades externas al CSIC y abra posibilidades a nuevas interacciones y proyectos en Patrimonio Cultural y Ciencia del Patrimonio.

7th Venice International School on Lasers in Materials Science SLIMS 2022. 3-9 July 2022

PTI-PAIS will participate on the the 7th Venice International School on Lasers in Materials Science, SLIMS 2022.

After 1 year postponed, the international school will have place from 3th to 9th of July, 2022 in the exceptional San Servolo Island, Venice.

The school aims at educating doctorate students in the principles of laser-surface interactions, along with bringing students up-to-date with current state-of-the art in laser materials processing.

The School is addressed at PhD students and young research scientists working in the field of laser-materials interactions. Marta Castillejo, coordinator of PTI PAIS will be lecturing there.

7th ARCH_RNT Symposium – Archaeological Research & New Technologies.

7th Archaeological Research and New Technologies Symposium (ARCH_RNT), which will take place in October 6-8, 2022, in Kalamata, Greece.

The Symposium focuses on the use of New Technologies in the Archaeological Research (Archaeometry, Engineering, Computing and Digital Technologies) notably with the presentation of interdisciplinary approaches, special case studies and research on archaeological material and collections.

All presentations (oral and poster) will be eligible for publication in a Special Issue of the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports.

Abstracts can now be submitted at arch_rnt@go.uop.gr, using the attached template. Submission deadline is May 31, 2022.
