E. Munch Museum – Online seminar: «Model samples and modern reference materials collections – their use in conservation research».

The online seminar “Model samples and modern reference materials collections – their use in conservation research” presented by the MUNCH museum in Oslo will be on 15th February 2022, 15.30h GMT+1.

The seminar is part of MUNCH shares (Deling Forum), a series of online presentations in the field of art history, conservation and museology given by specialists of these areas.

Irina Sandu, Conservation Scientist of Munch Museum in Oslo and co-PI of the research project will moderate the seminar. The four lecturers (Petra Pettersen, Erika Sandbakken, Ana Margarida Cardoso and Sara Valadas) will answer questions about the use of model samples and original artist materials for research in painting conservation. A special focus will be brought to the crayons collection from Munch museum.

The platform used for the seminar will be microsoft TEAMS and you can access it through this link.

This round table is part of the dissemination actions of a 3-year research project developed as joint-venture between the Conservation team of the Museum and a group of scientists from Hercules Centre of Evora University in Portugal. Also a three days conference on heritage science focused on E. Munch will be hosted too in Munch Museum in Oslo from the 22-25 of march.

This webinar is an overview of pioneering laser ablation studies, that constitute the basis for laser cleaning applications, and of the parallel development of analytical methods based on laser spectroscopy and imaging techniques that have been adequately refined and adapted to the needs of heritage materials. This webinar will include recent and innovative studies on laser interaction with materials in the field of Heritage Science and its application to real conservation problems.

HSAcademy is a collaborative initiative between IPERION HS (www.iperionhs.eu) and E-RIHS (www.e-rihs.eu). The two European projects integrate facilities of recognized excellence in Heritage Science, offering access to a wide range of high-level scientific instruments, methodologies, data, tools and training opportunities for advancing knowledge and innovation in the field.The series contributes to the development of a vibrant heritage science community and is intended for anyone involved in interdisciplinary heritage research

Gordon Research Conference: Scientific Methods in Cultural Heritage Research. Integrating Multidisciplinary Approaches for Deeper Characterization, Interpretation and Preservation of Heritage.

Next July 10th to 15th of 2022 a really interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scientific conference on heritage science will take place at Switzerland. It is organized by the Gordon Research Conference.

«The conference, open to researchers from all fields of heritage sciences, will highlight exceptional advances in methodologies and applications, which impact the interpretation, conservation and the fundamental knowledge of global material culture.»

Preliminary program is still being developed but the sessions will cover the next topics:

  • Keynote Session: Insights and Visions Connecting Cultural Heritage Research
  • Artistic and Conservation Practice-Driven Material Study
  • Computational Advances Driving New Interpretations
  • Study of Ancient and Historical Biological Materials
  • Heritage Material Systems from Nanometric to Macroscopic Scales
  • Safer Experimental Conditions for Heritage Studies
  • Engineering and Materials Sciences in Cultural Heritage Research
  • Novel Materials Inspired by Ancient Materials and Practices
  • Keynote Session: Future Frontiers for Heritage Research by Strengthening Collaboration Between the Humanities and Science

Applications for this meeting must be submitted by June 12, 2022 but early oversuscription must be considered if you are interested.

The conference will be held at Les Diablerets Conference Center, Eurotel Victoria, Les Diablerets, Switzerland.

In conjuntion to this conferences, the will be held this seminars called «Scientific Methods in Cultural Heritage Research (GRS)» by Gordon Research Seminar.

This seminar in Heritage Science Research is more focused on  graduate students, post-docs, and other young research scientists to present and exchange cutting edge research solutions for problems related to the preservation of global Cultural Heritage.

Both can be attended but you need to follow a different application process.

It will be held the 9th and 10th of July on the same place, Les Diablerets Conference Center, Eurotel Victoria, Les Diablerets, Switzerland.

Members of PTI-PAIS and IPERION HS will have representation there.

 

 

Conferencia a alumnos sobre deterioro del patrimonio construido del grupo de Petrología Aplicada al Patrimonio (IGEO)

La investigadora Natalia Pérez Ema, investigadora del Instituto de Geociencias y miembro de PTI-PAIS, impartió ayer 14 de diciembre una conferencia a los alumnos de segundo de bachillerato y del bachillerato internacional del IES José Saramago de Majadahonda. La conferencia trató sobre conservación, restauración y deterioro del patrimonio arqueológico y arquitectónico, y en concreto sobre el «mal de la piedra», un proceso de deterioro sobre materiales pétreos que se ha visto aumentado en los últimos años.

El grupo Petrología Aplicada a la Conservación del Patrimonio del IGEO se caracterizan por sus labores de difusión de la ciencia del patrimonio construido a todos los niveles, lo que permite estimular el interés de posibles futuros profesionales y científicos. El Instituto de Geociencias en general destaca por sus buenas labores de difusión y diseminación en Twitter

Este sábado 25 de septiembre, PTI-PAIS participará en la I Editatón del Paisaje de la Luz, una maratón de edición entre varias personas para contribuir con contenido nuevo o mejorar el existente en Wikipedia. Nos centraremos en patrimonio del Paisaje de la Luz de Madrid, que como sabéis, fue recientemente inscrito por la UNESCO como Patrimonio Mundial de la Humanidad.

La participación es abierta, solo requiere de un portátil, una cuenta gratuita en wikipedia y ganas de documentarse sobre el Patrimonio que forma el Paisaje de la Luz para contribuir al conocimiento abierto y libre de la Wikipedia.Wikipedia en español - Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre

  • Se realizará en la sala Terrario del centro de creación contemporánea Matadero (Madrid).

Cuestionario Iperion HS sobre intereses y necesidades de investigación en Ciencia del Patrimonio.

Desde el proyecto europeo Iperion HS en el que participamos, dentro del grupo de trabajo en Innovación y explotación, se ha preparado esta encuenta que pretende sondear los intereses y necesidades de investigación en el campo de la Ciencia del Patrimonio.

El cuestionario está dirigido a profesionales en el amplio ámbito del patrimonio cultural con implicación en la investigación, o que desean participar en la investigación sobre el patrimonio. Incluyen una amplia gama de expertos: conservadores, restauradores, arqueólogos, arquitectos, historiadores del arte, etnólogos, paleoantropólogos, conservadores, químicos, biólogos, geólogos, ingenieros…

Con este cuestionario también se quiere evaluar el uso y acceso actual y pasado a infraestructuras o centros de investigación, como el acceso transnacional de Iperion.

Los seminarios cervitrum de patrimonio cultural han venido organizándose ininterrumpidamente por el grupo de investigación CERVITRUM del Instituto de Historia del CSIC desde el año 2014. En esta ocasión y con motivo de la 10ª edición, la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio a través de su Sección de Arte, Arqueometría y Patrimonio, patrocina el Seminario en línea “Vidrios en la Historia. Una historia de vidrios y sus aplicaciones”, que contará con contribuciones que abarcan desde vidrio antiguo a vidrio contemporáneo a cargo tanto de especialistas noveles como de reconocida trayectoria profesional. El seminario finalizará con un coloquio con participación del público asistente en línea en el que se podrán realizar preguntas a los ponentes, comentar curiosidades y proponer futuros temas a tratar.
